POSITIONS AVAILABLE

11219 – Electrical Distribution – Design Support Engineer is primarily responsible for the design activities associated with the safe and reliable development of the electric distribution system as it pertains to infrastructure additions, upgrades, and relocations, new business, and construction maintenance activities. The Electrical Distribution – Design Support Engineer ensures compliance with company tariffs, procedures, design standards, and safety code requirements.  This position also provides technical support for GIS, the corporate distribution infrastructure record, and other mapping operations within Ameren Missouri’s electric service territory.    

Incumbents currently in the existing or similar career path will be considered only as lateral transfers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the safe and timely completion of designs and estimates for sub-transmission and distribution system enhancements (under 100kV) with an emphasis on adherence to company standards, procedures, and policies.  This includes designs for new business, infrastructure replacement, relocations, construction maintenance, and upgrade/expansion activities.
  • Work with division personnel and other Company departments to plan for, acquire, and schedule distribution GIS and design resources, both internal and external to the Company, in order to meet customer and project needs.
  • Manage the development and review the quality and accuracy of large-scale construction project designs, whether developed inside or outside the Company.  Review the work of designers, and GIS/mapping personnel for quality and consistency in order to provide exceptional service to internal customers.
  • Work closely with consultants, vendors, and architectural/engineering firms to monitor the quality and accuracy of their design and mapping work products.  Oversee the work activities of these external resources, and coach and evaluate them as required in order to ensure their delivery of a quality product.
  • Ensure that design work products are in compliance with industry and company design standards.  Work with division engineers, designers, field employees, project managers, and other customer stakeholders to resolve identified project issues in the interest of compliance with safety, design, timeline, and financial performance criteria.  Provide direction and technical assistance as required from these discussions to personnel completing designs and estimates of distribution projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of workgroup and departmental goals as appropriate. Identify and implement improvements in department operations and processes designed to enhance safety, control costs, remove waste, and improve productivity.  Actively participate in local co-worker engagement, diversity, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Effectively utilize and provide technical support relating to the use of various energy delivery business systems.  Provide computer hardware and system support, training, and application development for design and GIS users.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Preference is to have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination or have a Professional Engineer’s license. Three or more years of electric utility distribution or related engineering experience is preferred. Engineering experience in a customer service division is preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Working knowledge of corporate computer applications (e.g. OAS, CSS, DOJM, ADMS, and/or EMPRV) and GIS. Excellent analytical, decision-making, communication, organizational, and human relations skills. Healthy customer service mindset and an ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders internal and external to the Company.

Additional Information

The Electrical Distribution – Design Support Engineer works a standard day shift in an office and field environment which can include walking over rough terrain.  This position is subject to emergency call-out as a result of widespread storm restoration efforts.  May be called in after hours or required to work in unpleasant weather conditions during periods of operational emergency.

We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer within our Facilities Science and Technology team in one of our mid-western offices. This key position will serve as an electrical design engineer for the local electrical engineering team supporting local and nationwide clients.

Qualified candidates must have solid technical experience with the preparation of electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittals and construction administration.  The ability to develop and mentor staff, collaborate with other disciplines, establish and maintain budgets, and work in partnership with leadership throughout the Company is essential. 10119 – SAFETY DIRECTOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide leadership, innovation, and implementation of the company’s safety program in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local laws, customer requirements and the company’s vision, mission, and values for a safe work place.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 Compliance

  • Thorough knowledge and implementation of all Federal, State, and Local laws, customer requirements, and corporate culture regarding workplace safety, including record keeping

Safety Administration

  • Lead an Executive review of the overall company safety performance
  • Conducts all incident investigations and root-cause analysis, track and report trends and lessons learned, recommend and implement any corrective actions and improvements
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, review and support of on-site Safety Coordinators
  • Collaborate with Risk Manager in Claims Management
  • Maintain data in various Pre-Qualification web sites per Customer Demands

Site Management

  • Conduct project and crew Safety Audits; track trends and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure Pre-Task Planning Execution, Track and Audit crew execution, implement corrective actions, and revise program as necessary
  • Meet with and gain knowledge of all customer requirements related to safety reporting and performance; create, review and implement site specific programs with the Project Management team

 Training & Program Development

  • Review and update corporate safety strategy and policies to reduce exposure and incidents with our employees
  • Review and Update Corporate Safety Program annually and as required
  • Understand trends, innovations, and changes in the industry and prepare the company in advance for timely implementation.
  • Develop and implement training and certifications as required for employees
  • Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to understand and comply with our policies, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Implement, review, revise and coordination of Employee Safety Orientation program
  • Coordinate Training Programs by outside vendors
  • Publish and coordinate Weekly Tool Box Talks and Safety Stand Downs

Other duties as required to mitigate workplace injuries and accidents as required by customers and/or management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience working with a union workforce
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Construction industry, relevant work experience required
  • OSHA 500 (502) and 501 (503) Certifications
  • Willingness to travel in support of the site specific needs and staffing.
  • Working knowledge of Workers Compensation
  • Ability to Develop and Implement procedures in concert with NFPA 70E
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of One Call Laws and Practices in Sachs Electric Operating Areas

Fletcher-Reinhardt Company, a full-line electric utility distributor in St. Louis County, is looking for a full-time staff engineer.

Education 

  • Preferred: BS in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on power systems
  • Acceptable: Electric Utility experience of at least ten years  along with a complete understanding of vectors, phase-angles and power-factor.

Licensing  

  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering Certificate within five years
  • US Citizen
  • Valid Missouri or Illinois Driver’s License

Skills 

  • PC proficiency using PC based applications

Essential functions
