10320 – ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Office Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; St. Louis, MO

Level: Licensed Professional Engineer; 5 Plus Years of Experience

Department: Engineering; Reports to: Director of Electrical Engineering

Supervises: 1 to 4 designers

Project Summary:

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for design, development, implementation, analysis of the design and project management of engineering systems.

  1. Essential Functions:
  2. Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design, specific to Electrical Engineering
  3. Analyze existing electrical systems for buildings
  4. Have thorough knowledge of the National Electric Code
  5. Have ability to design lighting systems, perform photometric analysis, electrical short circuit analysis, energy code compliance calculations, and building power load analysis
  6. Prepare engineering analysis of projects, to include: preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection
  7. Prepare drawings and layouts; proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD
  8. Prepare technical construction specifications
  9. Performs field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process

Other Functions:

  1. Assist with project schedules and assign work to team as needed
  2. Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences as required as part of the design process

  1. Effective communication skills:Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written words; reads and interprets complex information; listens well.
  2. Demonstrates leadership skills:Able to assume a role of authority, as necessary; sets an example for coworkers and takes personal accountability for decisions.

9120 – CHIEF ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR

Highly detailed work comparing contract specifications to submitted bids to ensure that factors like size, quantity, color, and timing are aligned with customer specifications

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews specifications and plans to determine the scope of work on projects
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and estimators
  • Assesses needs and gathers information from multiple stakeholders at the onset of a new project; presents data and information
  • Meticulously attends to a myriad of details
  • Works closely with Project Accountants and others to forecast costs and set appropriate pricing to result in predetermined margins of profitability
  • Vets subcontractors and bids for minimum qualifications, experience and suitability for jobs
  • Maintains open and frequent communication with PMs, other Estimators, Foremen, General Foremen, Superintendents, Subcontractors, Accounting team, vendors, owners and clients
  • Spends significant time on the phone every day
  • In meetings and on job sites, fosters an environment of reliable safety, high quality, accuracy, and completeness
  • Conducts gap analysis when projects close comparing actual costs to anticipated costs, profits, and timelines; makes recommendations for future bids; communicates lessons learned to all appropriate parties to prevent mistakes and repetitive problems; seeks out ways to improve scheduling, quality, efficiency, communication and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

The person in this role will uphold the culture of J.F. Electric on company premises or at company sponsored events.

Required Education, Experience or Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Business preferred, but not required
  • 10+ years’ Construction or Electrical contracting experience required
    • Degree may count towards years of experience at employer’s discretion
  • Accubid Enterprise experience is a plus
  • Senior electrical estimator experience is a plus
  • Commercial and industrial project (C&I) experience is required
  • Ability to adhere to a schedule and reliably show up for all scheduled shifts on time
  • Strong skills with organization and attention to detail
  • Computer proficiency required; Prima Vera and MS Project experience would be beneficial
  • Experience with detailed plan review and quantity surveys helpful
  • Analytical skills and critical thinking skills required
  • Classes in project management, construction, costing or analysis heavily weighted; exposure to or experience in engineering, construction or project management a plus
  • Solid communication skills required; ability to assertively and respectfully push for information essential
  • Extensive travel to job sites required

Physical Requirements of the Role:

  • Must be able to drive, have drivers’ license and clean driving record
  • Ability to focus on detailed work for prolonged periods of time is essential
  • Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, talking on the phone

8120 – QUOTATIONS SPECIALIST/INSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Schaeffer Marketing Group has a new opportunity available for a top-notch Inside Sales Representative.  We are seeking a self-motivated, detail oriented professional to sell wire and other electrical commodities to distributors.  Strategic negotiation skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are keys to being successful.  This is a full-time benefit-eligible position.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a sales assistant for our outside sales team
  • Actively engage and be proactive in sales activities, reaching out to customers automatically with product updates – initiate business
  • Negotiate prices and help close deals
  • Follow up on hot or key quotes
  • Respond to customer requests on a timely basis, confirming all orders and verifying prices and expected ship dates
  • Actively expedite hot orders and job orders. Notify customer when materials ship.
  • Evaluate sales results. Try to influence results and communicate progress.

Qualifications:

  • Sales experience is preferred
  • Electrical industry experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
